Weather, it is one of the most discussed topics (next to the forbidden topic of politics) and the most misunderstood! We are in a weather pattern that has it’s perks but is downright soggy. It has rained most of the time for about 3 weeks. I had heard that this environment was more like Oregon than anywhere else, but failed to believe it until this week! I know now, this is in fact a temperate rainforest. The woods are alive with the hum of the bees and the songs of the very happy birds splashing in every little puddle and everything is unbelievably green…the downside is it can be a little unsettling to need an umbrella for 3 weeks! I neglected to think of umbrellas as part of my wardrobe this spring, instead I focused on tee shirts and shorts of which we have had no need until today for! Now, it is hot…hot… hot…but still cooler than all our neighbors to the north!I am saddened by the delay in our produce due to rain and looking forward to the first of the Caprese salad of purple Cherokees and looking glass falls chevre, and the ability to grill without the umbrella as an accessory. I also am waiting patiently until all the perennials go on sale( usually in august)so I may proceed with the new beds in the front garden that will accentuate the length of the property. I am dreaming of all the oldfashioned flowers, bell flower, daylilies, oh the many varieties we can enjoy here! If only I could find someone to dig for me….
